4. In 2007 there was a heavy shortage of Kolkata due to illegal movement to Bangladesh for manufacturing blades.  For a one rupee coin they can make Rs35 worth seven fine quality blades.

Worries or No worries for coin collectors on demonetisation

As old coins become more older and older in case of demonetization the value of them should be appreciated rather than down fall. But temporary there may be downfall but it should be recovered over the mean while .

If most of the Indians would have a collection of old coins there and then they can use it e.g King George V one rupee silver coin for price value like Rs 600/- during this demonetization. You can be ready to purchase groceries worth Rs 600/- using single coin.

But people are not

why people accept a silver or gold bars equivalent  money why not old coins of silver ???

Lack of awareness is the answer for this.

I feel there is no worries on the price drops if exists it would recover in short period of time.

Things that my worry dealers are only payments

  • Paying the money via cheque or cash
  • Transferring to payee by online
Good things,
  • Costly coins which are high priced need to dealt only in bank accounts and every thing will be in white money.

Feeling better solution to introduce a Mobile app to authenticate originality Rs 500 /1000 instead abolishing

Few ideas with alternatives on  Rs500/Rs 100 denomations.

In News we are hearing very common the ways to abolish denominations of Rs500 & Rs 1000 .

Why don't we think to introduce a mobile app which can scan it in a flick from a camera and results you with a genuine or fake.

Recently AP CM Chandrababu naidu has written letter to PM to abolish 500 & 1000 notes to erupt black money.

Read below news and comments for more brain stroming ideas

Do's and Dont's with Old silver coins market silver prices

10 days back i was checking the silver prices and found to be the price Rs 47000/- per kg. But now the price fell to Rs 42,000 .

where is the Rs 5000/- gone from last 10 days??

If the market is reverse , then it is good earning for investors.

Are silver coins are traded with real time prices ?
Yes in some places like Mumbai. But most of the places there wont be much difference or flu cation or change in rate with the dealers of antiques and old coins.

King George VI coin which is being sold Rs 500/- will remain more or less until and unless there is a huge variation of prices

When to buy silver coins ?
When the silver price is low try to buy in bulk to negotiate with dealer on bulk linked to market value of silver price. As i mentioned above buy when silver price is low .

Clever idea
Keep very high target duration like 3 years and set a price to sell it. wait till you get the price and sell it . By luck if you get the price in just 10 days you are very lucky person.

If you are serious investor do not trade with silver coins and hold it for 4-5 years long term which is good safe investment too.

Where can you find old coins cheap in Hyderabad ?

Every one in numismatics want to collect some coins and preserve the Indian heritage .Its is good habit to educate the children to know importance of collecting numismatics. If you give Children a habit of collecting they may start collecting and may not forget for life time.
Indian style is to find some thing in better price than the compete tiers deal with .

So where do you get coins for cheap in Hyderbad ? Its near Charminar

You can find a very small roadside or small shops selling coins for cheaper. But be careful with coins like ram, sita etc godess they are just temple tokens not the coins. You may get bigger size for Rs 100- Rs300

There are quite a lot of varieties of coins to collect and start in cheaper rate. Better way is to bargain half of the price or less at your choice . I suggest to buy some coins and make an Album and research in net or our website about the coin and paste the description of the coin along with the album

Ofcourse you can definitely find better ways to resale the coins to other fellow collectors. Silver coins are like double edged sword where you can resale if the silver price of the coins shoots up.

Lets make some stats that i have researched personally . June 2016 the price of the silver per kg is Rs 38,000 but after a month i.e July 2016 the price of the silver shooted upto Rs 47,000 . Suppose if you have purchased the silver coin at cost  of Rs  40,000 and found a time with a better price you can resale to dealers (see the list of dealer in our site ) .Now your investments are very clever and you can get better return on investment. So be careful risk is also involved if the price comes down.

You can get some Charminar silver coins near Charminar but be careful to authenticate if it is orignal or not.

Global Famous Stolen Coin Collections in 2014

I am writing a few global famous theft took place in 2014 year and would like to add few more in near future.
Thought these news is an year back but this is for your information .

CANADA ONTARIO COLLECTION THEFT($50,000) :

The Ontario Provincial Police aren't known for their coin collecting acumen, but burglary has been putting on numismatic news .

Sometime around 3: 25 PM noon on May 9,2014 in broad day light some one opened a safe sitting in the garage of home in Township of Admaston Bromley and walked away with the collection Inside.

Some coins were stored in two metallic box- type suit cases were theft worth $50,000. Those includes Olympic coins with 12 trays of 24 coins . The other held coins with various animal and insect emblems. All were Canadian currency. Then there were two large boxes, one yellow and one blue containing silver coins with various large animals pictures depicted on them . The other boxes contain silver coins

The thief might have escaped with all those coins - they must have weighted lot .But even selling coins individually or in small batches ,presents problems. OPP investigators are keeping an eye on websites like Kijiji ,eBay to see whether the coins show up for sale .

NSW LIBRARY , AUSTRALIA (1$ Million ):

Staff of NSW state Library have been left distraught after up to 1$ million worth of rare Australian coins were stolen in brazen day light theft. CCTV footage of the heist , which occurred just before 4 PM (AEST) on Wednesday , has been handed to Police , who say it shows a man entering the library on Macquaria Street and approaching the glass display cabinet.

Library staff did not discover the theft until the following morning. The coins were part of rare collection . There were 15 coins on display and 12 were stolen .

The most interesting one in many years is holey dollar ,dating from the time of Governor (Lachlan) Macquarie (Governer 1810-1821) and is an example of Australian first currency . It is hard to imagine something more precious . It really was Australia's first currency.

We see our job carrying forward for the next generations , so when some one cuts across that , it is upsetting . " Dealers had been alerted to the theft , he said. The coins were in a secure display case, on the upper level of the Mitchell Library building . Mr Byrne said they were in an secure case that was connected to an alarm ,very difficult to open and monitored by CCTC footage.

Fist time Industrialist commemorative coin released to honour Jamsetji Tata

On Jan 6th 15, PM Narendra Modi has released a coin set with Rs 100,Rs 5 to honor TATA Group founder  Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata to mark 175th Birth Anniversary

A collector’s item, the set of Rs 100 and Rs 5 coins in silver depicting Jamsetji’s bust, has been fabricated by the Kolkata mint of the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India and would be priced at Rs 4,500 each. Initially, only a dozen sets have been sent for being presented to the dignitaries. -

In the past, Jamsetji has been honoured by India Post through release of stamps — one in 1958 to mark the golden jubilee of the steel industry in India and another in 1965 in recognition of his contribution to the industrialisation of India. So far, coins have only been minted in honour of the freedom struggle, freedom fighters, events, scientists, temples, institutions and organisations

Jamsetji was chosen by the Modi government because he is regarded as the “father of the Indian industry” for setting in motion what became Asia’s first integrated steel company, despite the hostile investment environment of a colonised India and his own failing health.

Only the hotel — Taj Mahal in Mumbai — became a reality during his lifetime. Tata Iron and Steel Company Ltd (now Tata Steel) came into being in 1907, three years after his death in May 1904, and is ranked among the world’s top steel companies. -

Hope see to more govt is going to honor more Industrialists who made the country proud.
