New  variable number size introduced by Govt on 100 currency notes.

In my home town while buying a product in a shop found to be interesting fact the new different size of font in currency serial number.

This Rs 100 note seems to be first and then govt will roll out for Rs 500,Rs 1000 high denominations  later.

New security feature number size changes in 100 Rs note

E.g  In 100Rs note if serial is 5AF 979796 then 5AF will be same then 979 for first three and remaining number size being increased ascending order . This has been started issuing since July 2015.

So will show something as  5AF 979796.

RBI is yet to release the new telescopic numbering in currency notes with various sizes.

On Jan 6th 15, PM Narendra Modi has released a coin set with Rs 100,Rs 5 to honor TATA Group founder  Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata to mark 175th Birth Anniversary

A collector’s item, the set of Rs 100 and Rs 5 coins in silver depicting Jamsetji’s bust, has been fabricated by the Kolkata mint of the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India and would be priced at Rs 4,500 each. Initially, only a dozen sets have been sent for being presented to the dignitaries. -

In the past, Jamsetji has been honoured by India Post through release of stamps — one in 1958 to mark the golden jubilee of the steel industry in India and another in 1965 in recognition of his contribution to the industrialisation of India. So far, coins have only been minted in honour of the freedom struggle, freedom fighters, events, scientists, temples, institutions and organisations 

Jamsetji was chosen by the Modi government because he is regarded as the “father of the Indian industry” for setting in motion what became Asia’s first integrated steel company, despite the hostile investment environment of a colonised India and his own failing health. 

Only the hotel — Taj Mahal in Mumbai — became a reality during his lifetime. Tata Iron and Steel Company Ltd (now Tata Steel) came into being in 1907, three years after his death in May 1904, and is ranked among the world’s top steel companies. -

1 Rupee currency notes coming back after 20 years

What can you buy today for 1 Rupee ??

I hope you are thinking more than a minute to list at least 3 things. Yes one rupee may not buy you much things , but the government of India has started printing from Jan 1 ,2015 

• The last 1 Rupee note issued is in Nov 1994 .
• Finance Ministry has issued a gazette notification stating, ‘Printing of One Rupee Currency Notes Rules, 2015, will come into effect from January 1, 2015.’
• The new notes yet to hit the market in next 2 months (app March 2015)

How the new note looks like ?

• This notification explains that the note will be 9.7×6.3 cm in size and will have unique design and look. It will be signed by Finance Secretary. 
• Colour of the new note will have mix of  pink and green and will carry water mark of Ashoka Chakra with ‘Satyameva Jayate’ on it. 
• ‘Bharat Sarkar’ will be printed on its masthead and another ‘Bharat’ will be inscripted on the right side of the note.

The unknown things are 

1) why govt wants to re issue the paper with lowest denomination  ?

2) Are these going to be plastic notes ?

Impact on old 1 Rupee currency notes 

The average market price of old currency notes (currently Rs 1400/- per bundle ) may come down and the dealers who has huge stock of bundles will try to release in short period which may drop the price even further.
